I am a fan of Manhattans. Although I always go back to the classic version, this one is a nice riff. It is very slightly modified from How Sweet Eats.
Ingredients
- 2 ounces bourbon or rye
- 1/4 oz maraschino cherry juice
- 1/2 oz cranberry juice
- 1/2 oz sweet vermouth
- 2 dashes angostura bitters
- Maraschino cherries, rosemary sprig, cranberries, etc. for garnish.
INSTRUCTIONS
- Chill your cocktail glass. I do this by filling the glass with ice and water and letting it sit while I prepare the rest of the cocktail. Swirling the glass will help speed up the cooling.
- Combined the whisky, cherry juice, cranberry juice, vermouth and bitters. Stir for a good 20-30 seconds to get the drink nice and cold.
- Empty glass and strain cocktail into glass. Garnish as desired. The aroma from a rosemary sprig adds a nice twist.
