AI Generated Cucumber Soup

AI Generated Cucumber Soup

I’ve been playing around with ChatGPT and Bard (Google’s AI chat service). On a whim I started asking ChatGPT to generate recipes. The cucumber soup recipe below is one of the ones I asked it to generated. I decided to try the recipe as generated.

(Side note: There does not appear to be a consensus on how or if you should cite AI generated text.)

Cucumber soup is a refreshing and light dish that’s perfect for the summer months. It’s easy to make and can be served as a starter or as a light main course. Here’s a simple recipe to make cucumber soup:

Ingredients:

  • 2 large cucumbers, peeled and diced
  • 1/2 cup Greek yogurt
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup fresh mint leaves, chopped
  • 1/4 cup fresh dill, chopped
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup water

Instructions:

  1. In a blender or food processor, combine the diced cucumbers, Greek yogurt, sour cream, mint, dill, garlic, lemon juice, salt, and black pepper. Blend until the mixture is smooth.
  2. Add water to the mixture and blend again until the soup reaches your desired consistency. If the soup is too thick, add more water until it reaches the desired consistency.
  3. Once the soup is blended to your liking, transfer it to a large bowl or individual serving bowls.
  4. Cover the soup and chill it in the refrigerator for at least an hour, or until it’s cold.
  5. When you’re ready to serve the soup, garnish it with additional chopped mint and dill.

That’s it! Your cucumber soup is now ready to serve. Enjoy the refreshing taste of this light and healthy dish on a hot summer day.

Comments

Looking at the recipe it looked pretty reasonable. I have no way of knowing if ChatGPT found this recipe and duplicated it or if it synthesized it. But it looked good enough to try.

The recipe turned out OK, but I probably will not make it again. I much prefer this Avocado and Cucumber Soup.
